Imphal, February 19, 2010:
At least one individual has been killed while three others including a woman were injured in an explosion suspected to be landmine near Aigejang village in Chandel district this morning.
The bomb exploded in an uninhabited area of Aigejang village on a foot-track under Chakpikarong PS at about 6.30 am, said a police source.
Aigejang is located some distance interior to Sajik Tampak, once a haven for insurgent cadres.
The bomb explosion killed James (15) s/o late Bijoy of Khullen Khailed village on the spot.
Of the three injured victims, Ngampao Haokip (20) s/o Jangam of Aigejang village has been admitted in RIMS afternoon as his condition is reported to be serious.
Ngampao was hit by splinters on leg and arm.
His condition is critical.
The other two injured victims -- Sokholun Haokip (20) and Tinneng Haokip (44) are undergoing treatment in the unit hospital of 8 AR at Sajik Tampak, said chief of nearby Molphei village, Nethang Haokip.
It is reported that there is one post of 8 AR near the blast site.
