Ukhrul, February 19, 2010:
The non-declaration of results of DCP for appointment of primary teachers even after the written test was held four year back has indicated that the present government is not taking interest in the education sector which is the backbone of advancing the state ahead, lamented Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) in a statement today.
Government had recruited more than 10,000 personnel in the state police department in the backdrop of prevailing law and order situation during the period which the DPC for appointment of around 1017 primary teachers remain incomplete, the statement signed by its general secretary M Angamba observed.
In the statement which drew the attention of the chief minister, O Ibobi to declare the result of the DPC for appointment of primary teachers in the state education (s) department at the earliest possible time, it urged the chief minister to take it an important task of his government so that vacant posts of around 1300 primary teachers in government schools can be filled up before the commencement of the 2010-11 session due to start from April next.
State education department (s) conducted written test for the appointment of 1017 primary teachers to fill vacant posts in the government schools in December 22, 2006 through Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) who conduct the exam.
During the same period of four year time a bulk of police personnel numbering around 10,000 for filing up vacant posts newly created posts in MR, IRB, police, ASI, SI, Haildar, Jemandar, Radio Operators, driver, women ASI, SI, women constables etc.
were conducted and results were out.
Some of them even got promotions to the next higher ranks.
However, the viva-voce for said DPC was held only in February 2009 at a delay of four year and the result for the same is still delay.
The delay in the declaration of the result of the DPC is against the believed of the DESAM, the statement observed adding that the students' body was confidence of declaring the result without corruption and intervention from the ministers, MLAs, politicians, bureaucrats.
The present government is taking kin interest in strengthening the state security and police force in the backdrop of prevailing bad law and order situation and under the Central sponsored schemes but lacking interest in human resources development activities.
Currently, many posts in the primary, higher secondary and colleges are lying vacant for a long time.
Apart from this, this government is not filling up posts of head masters, principals, AIs, DIs, ZEOs on regular basis while results for appointment of riflemen, constables and other ranks in the police department as well promotion results were declaring almost everyday.
In the state education system at the lowest state, the more unfortunate fate is befalling to the primary education which is the foundation of socialization.
Thinking twice in such state of condition of the education system, government is urged to declare the result of the DPC for the appointment of primary teachers and fill up the shortage teachers in the primary schools of the government.
The statement also drew the attention of the government to take interest in education sector similar to that of taking interest in strengthening manpower and modernization of police force in the state.
