Leimatak river bridge which at between Khoupum and Bishnupur in NH 53A serves as lifeline to the people in the inhabitat areas is in a deplorable condition due to negligence on the part of the irresponsible Bishnupur PWD EE.
Fund amounting to Rs 2.5 crores has been release under SPA in 2008 .
However the bridge is still left in pathetic condition.
This was stated by K Humalia Bou, the chairman of Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur in its press release issued today.
He said that on March 16 2010, one Shaktiman bearing registration number MN-01-5129 cruched the weak bridge of the Leimatak river at around 10 am while crossing over it which causes inconvenience to the commuters.
The passenger carrying vehicles had to remain stranded for 6 hours until the truck was pulled up.
ZSUM demands for immediate repairing of the Leimatak bridge.
He further said that in this regard, the Bishnupur PWD, EE is directed to initiate action as required to repair the bridge at the earliest to avoid further inconveniences.
If it fails to comply the demands, the ZSUM will take stern forms of agitation.
