Four labourers engaged with the BRTF were killed in a mishap, while working along NH-150 (Tipaimukh Road) today at around 1.20 pm, sources said.
When contacted, BRTF's 80 RCC Headquarters at Bungmual village confirmed the mishap but could not specify the number of casualties or their identities.
They could only confirm that the deceased and injured were daily labourers.
Natives of Santing village presently residing in Chiengkonpang said four were killed and one injured when a road-side barrier they were working in collapsed burying them at a location yet to be identified along NH-150.At least two of the three deceased are said to be residents of Santing village.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the Senior Administrative Officer for Commander of Headquarters 25 BRTF said that Toulkhoin s/o Paokuon, Lunkholin s/o Lamkholin and Ginchingthang s/o Khuolthang died at the spot while one Lalsuang s/o Pajin succumbed to his injuries when he was brought to hospital.
In a statement, PIB (Defence Wing) said that the Chief Engineer of Sewak Border Road Task Force has deeply condoled the death of the four labourers.
In a statement, PIB said that BRTF has assured the families of the deceased that all compensation will be extended as per the existing norms.
