USER, MANIPUR today has threatened to launch non-cooperation movement from November 18 against the Manipur State AIDS Control Society, MACS for not releasing funds to the NGOs working in the field of AIDS/HIV for more trhan 10 months.
As part of their agitation, people living with HIV will also not take part in any of the programmes organized by the state government on the occasion of the World AIDS Day on December 1 next.
The decision to launch the agitations was taken in a meeting of the NGOs working in the field of HIV/AIDS today at USER's office, a statement of the USER said.
In the statement USER also said even though the expiry of the deadline set by the body regarding the release of funds, MACS authorities failed to convert into action.
No apparent action taken up regarding their demand, it lamented.
The meeting has unanimously resolved to boycott all the government functions related with HIV/AIDS including observation of the Word AIDS Day after thoroughly discussed on the neglected attitudes of the MACS.The decision to launch non-cooperation movement from November 18 has also extended support by the Nagaland Users' Network and North East Drug Users' Forum, the statement also claimed.
