K pro infra Works Pvt Ltd, in short K-Pro has taken strong exception to a report published by Delhi-based Tehelka magazine and reproduced by two Imphal-based local dalies, describing the charges levelled in the report as baseless and highly irresponsible.
Clarifying the charges levelled in the Tehelka report, K Pro Infra Works Pvt Ltd said in a statement that it was "very said and depressing to note that reputed newspapers are publishing articles authored by some persons without verifying the truth and the authenticity of the inputs stated by them" .
It said, "Such baseless and highly irresponsible allegations based on mere speculatioins are bound to have an adverse impact on the reputation of the said dailies and could lead to initiation of legal action for defaming our firm" .
A reliable source told the Hueiyen Lanpao (English) that the company has already initiated legal action against Tehelka, and the two dalies based in Imphal that reproduced the report would also be getting legal notice soon.
The K-Pro has given "the actual facts and clarification" to what it called "the baseless allegations levelled by the authors" .
It said,"K Pro Infra Works is not a nondescript contractor but is a joint Venture Contractor with Progressive Constructions Limited havein on average annual turnover ofRs 1000 crores with a background of 44 years, rich in experience n the Construction/Infrastructure industry" .
"Last three years alone the completed contracts are worth Rs 3000 crores" .
"All the allegations published are mere speculations without verifying the true facts from the concerned authority" .
"The tender notice was published in the local newspapers as well as national newspapers calling all for a competitive bids.
The tender notice was published in the national dalies like (a) Hindustan Times dated 16.06.2009.Delhi edition (b) Indian Express dated 16.06.2009, Delhi editioin and (c) The Telegraph dated 18.06.2009, Kolkata edition" .
"The tender notice was awarded in favour of K Pro Infra Works by the LDA only after it was found that our firm has qualified both financially and technically and has met all the requisie criteria laid out in the tender notice" .
"Neither K Pro Infra Works Private Limited nor its Joint Venture Partner has any share holders from Manipur or of Manipur origin" .
"Our firm has been referred to as a fake firm, How can a company registered as per laws of the country be termed fake? .
The company said in the statement that the above few facts and clarifications are more than sufficient to prove that all the allegations levelled by the authors are only with ulterior motives, and it is really surprising that the dailies have carried such report without any checking.
The company earnestly appealed to the media not to publish such articles or news items without verifying the truth and actual facts.
It also appealed to the people of Manipur not to get carried away by "irresponsible and utter false propaganda by some vested interests for reasons best known to themselves" .
