For the second year, AMADA will be observing the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking from June 20 till June 26.
Speaking about the week long observance today, AMADA Observation Committee convenor K Krishnamohon said that a short film titled Mitkap Thokpa based on drug abuse will be screened at Kuki Inn tomorrow besides releasing a poetry collection.
At 10 am of June 21, a cycle rally which will cover six districts will be flagged off by Chief Minister O Ibobi from Kangla.
On the same day, street corner meetings and street plays will be staged at Babupara, Moirangkhom, Singjamei, Kakwa, Ningomthongjao, Bashikhong, Kyamgei, Lilong, Oinam Dam, Samurou, Hiyangthang, Irom Meijrao, Pukhrambam, Kiyam Langpok , Kakyai, Nambol Chingmang, Moirang Lamkhai and Kwakta.
The rallyists will halt the night at Churachandpur, said Krishnamohon.
On the third day (June 22), the cycle rally will be set off again from Churachandpur and will proceed towards Sugnu, Pangaltabi, Kakching Khunou, Umathel, Langmeidong, Wabgai Lamkhai, Keirak, Kakching and finally to Pallel.
In all these places too, street plays and street corner meetings will be held.
From Pallel, the rally will proceed towards Thoubal, Yairipok, Thiyam, Sandrok, Keirao, Kongba, Porompat, Lamlong, Moirang Kampu, and Lamlai on June 23.On June 24, the rallyists will pass through Sawombung, Pangei, Khabam Lamkhai, Koirengei, Pheidinga, Khurkhul, Mayang Langjing, Tera, Patsoi and Khumbong.
From there, the anti-drug campaigners will go to Moidangpok, Keithelmanbi, Phoijing and Nambol on June 25.On June 26, the rallyists will come to Keishampat, Thangmeiband, Chingmeirong, North AOC and Golapati before winding up at Hatta Kangjeibung.
As a part of the cycle rally excellence awards will be distributed to dedicated media persons, advocates, doctors and social activists working in the field of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS on June 25 at Ibudhou Koriphaba ground of Nambol, said the convenor.
