Ukhrul, June 19:
Brigadier PS Mandar, DIG B'Range 10 Sector Somsai, Ukhrul inaugurated a Tree Plantation prorgamme today at "Eden Orphan Home complex" at Tallui Junction, located about 13 kms from Ukhrul Town.
The programme was organised by the Hill Area Development Organization (HADO) and sponsored by the 10th Sector Assam Rifles, Somsai (Ukhrul).
Sapling of tree various planted on the occasion included 20000 Jatropa plants, Umangs and bamboos in addition to the dignitaries and the organizers along with children of the orphanage planting pineapples.
At present, the Eden Orphanage accommodates 64 children ranging from two to 16 years.
The centre is run by one RM.

The Eden Home is run by individual/self to uplift the deprived children not for commercial purpose, said Shangreingam and added that "Eden Home" was established in 2001.During the function, the inmates urged the visiting DIG to provide generator or Solar Lamp to mitigate problem of power shortage, to which Brigadier PS Mandar nodded in positive.
The DIG also extended cash and goods to the inmates.
Valleyrose Hungyo, Secretary of HADO also donated a 500 litre capacity water reservour for the inmates.
The function was also attended by the Col.Nerish Kumar, CO B' Range, Dahiya, Maj MP Singh and many rank and files of the Assam Rifles, besides secretary of TSL, former President TSL, Medical team and Jeneth Hungyo, Co-coordinator of Jatropa Plant, Nagaland and Manipur.
