The yet to be inaugurated BT Flyover has become a popular hang-out point for many drug abusers and youths of dubious character.
Making the observation, general secretary of the Apunba Tengbang Marup Uripok, Tourangbam Boy diclosed that many youths indulging in anti-social and depraved activities on the flyover were pulled up by the Marup and set free after warning them in the last few months.
Today too, two groups of students studying in the Hijam Irabot Memorial School, Langol poised to fight against each other with clubs on the flyover were prevented from exchanging blows by the timely intervention of the Marup.
Three students involved in the stand-off were also pulled up.
Besides providing a secluded haven for boys and girls to indulge in immoral acts, it has also been discovered that film companies have been shooting films in the flyover till late night, informed Boy.
Even as the flyover on the Uripok side was fenced off, film crews barged past the fence without ever bothering to repair the damaged fence, he asserted.
Clarifying that the Marup do not prohibit shooting films in the flyover, Boy asked film crews to seek prior permission from the Marup in view of the detestable scenes being observed on the flyover.
Moreover, pissing in total disregard to the people living nearby and other on-lookers, and eve-teasing have also become regular sights in and around the flyover, Tomba conveyed.
He further warned that any body found indulging in such detestable and depraved activities will be dealt with firmly.
