A free health check up camp conducted by the Resource Centre for Social Welfare and Community Development (RC-SWACD) along with blood testing for RVA at Chakpikarong-Sajik Tampak and Khengjoi blocks have sounded the warning bell with mass infection of HIV among the local populace coming to light.
In a statement, RC SWACD said that out of 26 blood screened nine tested positive for HIV at Chakpikarong which works out to 35 pc while out of 40 samples screened at Khenjoi blocks 10 tested positive, which is 25 pc.
The health camp was conducted on June 17.As the infection rate is quite high the attention of the Health Department, Donors/Agencies of HIV Intervention have been drawn towards the said places where so far no intervention programme has been taken up.
The attention of MACS
was also sought.
