4 bomb attack accused held

Four KCP cadres reportedly involved in the grenade attack at the residence of Irrigation and Flood Control Executive Engineer Chongtham Ranbir have been apprehended by security forces.
Parading the apprehended UG cadres before media persons at Commando complex here this afternoon, Imphal West District Police Commando DSP Sarangthem Ibomcha said that a combined team of 116th BSF personnel and Imphal West commandos, acting on a specific tip off, succeeded in pulling up the four accused from different places.
In the first instance, two KCP cadres including a woman were apprehended during a search operation in the surrounding areas of Heirangoithong at about 6.30 am of February 16 .
The arrested KCP cadres were identified as Laithangbam Ingocha (46) of Heirangoithong Ahongshangbam Leikai and Khamnam Ton alias Lingjel Chanu of Bamon Kampu, DSP Ibomcha said.
It has been learnt that the hand grenade which exploded at the residence of EE Ranbir at Singjamei Chongtham Leikai was hurled by Lingjel Chanu while Ingocha waited for Lingjel on a Honda Activa scooter (MN-1M/4766), the DSP said.
Lingjel brought the hand grenade from one Sarangthem ongbi Sanatombi alias Thambou Devi (33) of Chanam Pukhri Mapal.
On questioning, Lingjel reportedly disclosed that she was earlier working for the proscribed PLA in the rank of Lance Corporal.
Both Lingjel and Ingocha were working under Sarangthem Digvijoy of Heirangoithong Jaganath Achouba Leirak who was also arrested by army and Nagaland Police from Kohima on February 17 .
Further, it was learnt that Ingocha's wife Radhamani Devi (45) was engaged in taking/returning pistol from/to Digvijoy, Ibomcha said.
Subsequently, Sanatombi and Radhamani were also pulled up from Chanam Pukhri Mapal at around 4 pm of February 17.One Chinese hand grenade was recovered from the possession of Sanatombi.
Notably, the grenade attack at the residence of EE Ranbir claimed the life of a 7th MR Havildar besides injuring two Riflemen and two civilians.
