Imphal, February 19 2011:
All India Trinamool Congress North East in-charge Kanwar Deep Singh has claimed that result of Konthoujam by-election was a testimony of the growing unpopularity of SPF Government and increasing discontentment among the people at the performance of the incumbent Government.
Addressing people of Konthoujam Assembly constituency at the residence of the successful Trinamool Congress candidate K Sarat at Konthoujam today, Kanwar said that the people of Konthoujam AC gave a new light to the Trinamool Congress by electing its candidate.
He further appealed to let Trinamool Congress flourish all over Manipur.
The SPF has both money and power but in the end Trinamool Congress came out triumphant because of selfless struggle of the womenfolk of Konthoujam AC who successfully neutralised the money and power of SPF, he said.

He pledged that Trinamool Congress would work at the forefront to restore peace in Manipur through an amicable solution.
K Sarat said that he would strive to complete all incomplete projects within his short tenure as MLA of the constituency.
Saying that people of Konthoujam AC have been receiving only 20 per cent of the PDS items, Sarat assured that he would put in all efforts to ensure the people receive at least 70 to 80 per cent of the allotted PDS items.
For each polling station, a committee would be set up.
The MLA Local Area Development Fund would be equally distributed among these committees for taking up development works so that the whole constituency moves forward on equal footing.
