Four behind bomb attack held

Police on Saturday announced the arrest of four including four women activists of UGs responsible for the explosion of a bomb at the residence of an Executive Engineer of IFCD that killed escort commander of the EE and injured to four others.
Suspected UGs exploded the bomb at the residence of Chongtham Ranabir, EE division-I IFCD at Singjamei Chongtham Leikai on February 10 last and killed the escort commander of the engineer and wounded four others, two security personnel and two labourers.
The arrested activists were identified as Laithangbam Ibomcha (46) of Heirangoithong and Khamnam Ton alias Lingjel (26) daughter of Kh Tomba of Bamon Kampu, Laithangbam Radhamani Devi (45) wife of Ingocha and Sarangthem Sanatombi @ Thambou (33) wife of Dorendro of Chanam Pukhri Mapal.
According to the Imphal West Additional SP Ibombcha, two of them, Ibomcha and Lingjel, belong to KCP (Noyon faction) and were arrested by a combined team of Imphal West Police Commandos and troops of 116th Bn BSF from Heirangoithong acting on a tip-off around 8.30 am of last Thursday.
On questioning to both of them, it was confirmed that the crime was committed by them under the command of one Digbijoy Singh of Heirangoithong, the Additional SP told reporters in a briefing in his office today.
He said, on further questioning to Lingjel who is a former self style corporal of the PLA, they come to know that she took the hand grenade used in the attack at IFCD, EE from Sarangthem Sanatombi Devi.
Sanatombi admitted the revelation of Lingjel and disclosed that she along with Radhamani received the hand grenade from Digbijoy along with a pistol.
Based on her statement Radhamani has been arrested, Ibomcha said.
One Chinese made hand grenade along with detonator seized from the house of Sanatombi and also a Honda Activa bearing registration no.MN-1M-4766 and a mobile handset which they allegedly used in committing the crime, the police officer said.
