HIV awareness held at Singhat

A day-long Constituency level convention on HIV/AIDS was organised under the aegis of Manipur Legislative Forum on HIV/AIDS at the community hall of Singhat headquarters today.
MLA of Singhat Assembly Constituency T Hangkhanpao attended the convention as chief guest.
A large number of people including leaders, youths, men and women of the villages located in and around Singhat head quarters participated in the convention.
Speaking at the occasion, Hangkhanpao called upon the gathering, specially the youths, to adopt healthy practices and conduct their blood test voluntarily in case they are doubtful of their HIV status.
The MLA, however, noted that health centres in the area have not been able to function properly due to lack of doctors.
He also appealed to the Government to do the needful in this regard.
The MLA observed that distribution of most PDS items among the people of the Constituency has been achieved and facilities for road and communication, water supply and education have been improved.
Many resource persons spoke on issues related to HIV/AIDS and its preventive measures during the convention.
Prior to the convention, the MLA participated in the 8th raising day function of Singhat Youth Club, Women Wing and called upon the women for participation in social issues for a better society.
