The relay hunger strike of the Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) as part of the 23 days old cease work strike in demand of 6th Central Pay revision has entered its second day today.
The relay hunger strike of the teachers was started yesterday at the gate of CC Higher Secondary school, Imphal.
More than 300 teachers under Zone II, Imphal East participated in the relay hunger strike from 8.30 am to 4 pm today.
The strike will be suspended on December 8 due to the bandh called by KCP.
They will continue the strike from December 9, 8.30 am.
Teachers of elementary to higher secondary levels of Imphal East, Zone I, will continue the strike on December 9 from 8.30 am, stated a press release of COTA today.
COTA has also intimated the Secretary of Council of Higher Secondary School Education, Manipur to extend the last date of submission of application form for the upcoming Council exam.
COTA also condemned the state government and police department for beating and injuring students during a democratic rally in demand of providing uninterrupted study.
Instead of suppressing the issue, the state government should bring an amicable solution to the current impasse between the teachers, students and the government, added the release.
