Expressing concern over the increasing violent incidents like bomb attacks, kidnappings, killing, etc., Chief Minister today cautioned initiators of these crimes saying they should ask themselves whether people agree with their acts.
No deed which is against the people achieves any good, the Chief Minister asserted while addressing a gathering at the observance function of the 16th death anniversary of former minister Moirangthem Ibotombi.
He asked whether the people of all sections of the society agree with acts of UGs of hurling bombs at houses of individuals, killing people, kidnapping etc.
just for not meeting their monetary demands.
They need to think twice.
Whether it may be government or terrorists, if anybody acts against the wishes of the people, existence itself will be undermined, he said.
Let us spread the message that people want peace and development, that people want harmony among the different communities.
The Moirangthem Ibotombi Trust is observing the day with the objective of bringing peace in the state, the Chief Minister said.
The CM said, it was the dream of the late leader Ibotombi to bring peace in the state.
The message of Ibotombi should be spread not only to the people of Heirok but also in the entire state.
Mention may be made that former minister Moirangthem Ibotombi who was popularly known as Heirok Ibotombi was brutally shot dead in the morning of December 7, 1998 by two unidentified armed youths.
To mark the day, Moirangthem Ibotombi Trust has been observing the day every year as the day of "harmony, peace and development" .
The observance function was marked by offering of floral tributes to the late leader starting from 7 am, and the holding of a public meeting at Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Complex.
Prof W Nabakumar, dean of humanities and environmental science, MU gave the key note address of the observance function in which apart from Chief Minister, MPCC president MLA Gaikhangam, MLA Moirangthem Hemanta, MLA O Landhoni, Morung Mokunga, former ministers DK Korungthang, E Biramani, Francis Ngajokpa, etc attended.
