Police have started an investigation into the allegations of using crude and unparliamentary language on a lady doctor who is in final year (MD) in RIMS by some police personnel.
According to sources in RIMS, the lady doctor is from a neighbouring State of Manipur.
On the night of December 1, the lady doctor was coming out from Medical ward and passing through the casualty ward when one person sitting inside a car parked near the police picket of RIMS shouted at her saying 'I want to enjoy you.
I came to enjoy you' .
Hearing such indecent language, the lady doctor reacted sharply.
Though she did not stop, she shot back one or two words and came directly to the casualty ward where many of her colleague doctors were looking after the patients.
Not long after that some police personnel from the police picket came along with the accused person in question to request the lady doctor to arrive at a compromise.
The person in question identified himself as the second OC of Yairipok Police Station and even showed his identity card to prove it.
Turning down their request for compromise, the infuriated lady doctor shouted at the accused person to get out from there.
As the situation became very tense, police personnel from the police picket tried to see off the person till his Maruti car.
This led to a commotion in the casualty ward for sometime.
At last, the police personnel succeeded in taking the person to his Maruti and send him off.
At the time, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Dr Y Mohan was also present in front of the casualty ward.
Although the Medical Superintendent did not immediate know what was going on, he came to know about the incident after the accused person left.
On the following day, a group of doctors including the lady doctor went to submit written complaint with the Director and Medical Superintendent of RIMS over the incident during office hours.
In the afternoon of the same day, Medical Superintendent Dr Y Mohen himself called on DGP to forward the complaint.
Accordingly, Additional SP (Ops) of Imphal West has started an investigation into the incident.
The statement of the lady doctor has also been recorded.
The incident has reportedly came about as the lady doctor in low spirit over threatening SMSes she has been receiving from a man in Singjamei through her mobile phone, the number of which she had been given as contact number in the advertisement for loss of another SIM card.
