Imphal, March 01 2011:
Employees under state government including secretariat services under the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of AMTUC and AMGEO today submitted an ultimatum to the CM setting a March 9 deadline to translate their demands which were agreed to by the government.
The JAC, in a statement today, said that they would be compelled to undergo the indefinite cease-work strike as government is yet to translate agreed points included in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the apex body of the employees and government on May 14, 2010 .
In the MoU the government had agreed to translate the agreed demands into work within six months.
But even after nine months, no work has been taken up, the statement signed by JAC's publicity and information secretary L Priyobarta said.
A joint meeting of the JAC and Manipur Secretariat Service Association (MASA) was held on Monday.
After a thorough review the meeting decided to serve an ultimatum to the government before they launch the cease-work strike.
Accordingly the ultimatum was submitted to the Chief Minister, the statement added.
Copies of the ultimatum were also forwarded to the Governor, Ministers, Chief Secretary, DGP and Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners concerned.
The statement said employees have been forced to launch the cease work strike, and they understand the losses to be suffered by the people of the state by the strike.
But, they were compelled to do so as government is insincere in addressing to the demands of the employees.
It is upto the government to avoid the strike, the JAC statement reiterated.
