Though the post-mortem examination on the body of Angousana, who allegedly died from excessive torture in the custody of police commandos, has been conducted, it is yet to be claimed by the family members.
The post-mortem was conducted today at RIMS after an inquest in front of a magistrate.
A resident of Napat Mayai Leikai, Athokpam Angousana had been reportedly arrested by a team of Thoubal Police Commandos from his house in the night of February 27 .
As his condition was serious when the family members got him out from the police custody yesterday morning, Angousana was brought for treatment.
But he succumbed .
The JAC formed in protest of the incident yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding among others, dismissal of the personnel involved in the incident, appointment of one of the family members to a suitable Government job and payment of Rs 5 lakh compensation to the bereaved family members.
As the JAC had announced that the body would not be claimed until all these demands were fulfilled, the body of Angousana is still laying in the mortuary of RIMS even though the post-mortem examination had been conducted.
MLA N Mangi, while describing the death of Angousana as custodial death, has assured that the matter would be brought in the State Assembly.
