Imphal, March 01 2011:
JAC of AMGEO and AMTUC has set March 9 as the deadline to translate into action agreements reached between employees' bodies and the State Government on two earlier occasions, failing which employees will resume/relaunch ceasework strike from the next day.
In a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, the JAC reminded the CM that after a prolonged agitation, memorandum of understanding was signed between the Government of Manipur with the Manipur Secretariat Services Association and JAC of AMGEO and AMTUC on May 14, 2010, and then with the COTA five days later.
Though more than nine months have lapsed since signing of the agreements the progress of execution of MoUs is not satisfactory, maintained the JAC representation while reiterating that the demands included implementation of 6th Central Pay in toto; rectification of pay anomalies; regularisation of ad-hoc, casual, muster roll and work-charged employees; and restoration of die-in-harness scheme, etc.
Further mentioning that orders of six months arrear out of 51 months had not been issued properly, the JAC asserted that under such circumstances, the general body meeting of all employees, workers and pensioners held on February 24 at Kali Mandap resolved to launch/resume ceasework strike after a 10 days of submission of the memorandum, unless the Government execute the provisions of the MoUs during the stipulated time.
in the interest of the Govt and the people, the cease-work strike will not cover those employees directly involved with the Assembly sessions, it added.
