Imphal, March 01 2011:
Decrying the bomb blast in front of a hardware shop at Hatta in Imphal East district on February 27 that left eight people injured, people of the surrounding area today staged a protest demonstration at the very site where the blast took place.
During the protest demonstration organised jointly by various local clubs, a Joint Action Committee (JAC) was formed.
A memorandum has also been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East district highlighting the plights of the injured victims.
In the blast that took place in the afternoon of February 27, eight people including two personnel of Traffic Control Police, Imphal East and six civilians sustained injuries.
The memorandum signed by the president of Hatta Makha Leikai Social and Youth Development Organisation and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the fact that most of the civilians who sustained injuries in the blast are manual workers.
All of them are still undergoing treatment in the hospital.
But they have not received any assistance from the Government.
The memorandum pleaded for extending necessary financial assistance to the injured victims at the earliest possible.
On the other hand, the statement of the JAC constituted to protest the blast incident, has appealed to the Chief Minister to extend help to the injured victims.
It has also warned of taking recourse to agitation if the Government fails to give any definite and positive response to the demand.
