Imphal, October 24 2010:
A five member team of the "First Sub-Committee of the Committee of Parliament on Official Language" including an official arrived here today for a two day visit in the state.
The five member team led by deputy chairman, Raijya Sabha MP Satyavaral Chaturvedi included members, Pradeep Tanta (MP Lok Sabha), Dara Singh Chauhan (MP Lok Sabha), Sreegopal Vyas (MP Rajya Sabha and under secretary LR Yadav.
They are coming here to examine the implementation of various Central sponsored schemes and programmes for the development of the official language, Hindi, in the state under the Official Language of the Union under Article 343(1) .
The committee is reviewing the progress made in the use of Hindi for the official purposes of the Union from time to time.
The Committee submits its report to the President from time to time making recommendations thereon and the President shall cause the report to be laid before each House of Parliament and sent to all the State Governments.
The first sub-committee of the committee is coming here to review the status of progress of schemes and programmes taken up by the state government so that the status of the official language in the state could be accessed by the Central government.
It is pertinent to mention here that Hindi language is banned in Manipur by separatists with the objective of achieving their ends to stop Indianisation of the people.
They have observed that Hindi is a toll in the Indianisation process of New Delhi.
