A 58-year old man and his son were arrested by Imphal east police commandos on alleged charges of manufacturing country made arms to supply to underground outfits.
A team of police commandos in Imphal east arrested the duo, Thingam Sharat alias Sharatchandra and his 25-year old son Thingam Boy alias Suresh from their residence at Khurai Cheithabi Leirak on the night of last Friday and handed them over to the Porompat police station.
A 9 mm pistol bearing no 947747 marked as 'China' and two indentation sets for stamping identification marks were also recovered during the raid.
These items were found concealed at the northern corner of the kitchen, police said.
During interrogation, police came to know that they manufactured small arms for supply to the underground elements, an official source from the police said Sunday.
Three underground cadres, two PREPAK and one Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRF), were nabbed by troops of Assam Rifles in separate counter insurgency operation and handed over to nearby police stations respectively.
The two PREPAK cadres identified as Khongbantabam Iyatombi (44) son of Kh Ibohal of Sabungkhok Mayai Leikai and Thangjam Binoy (47) son of Ibotombi of Yainangpokpi Makha Leikai were apprehended by troops of 23 Assam Rifles.
They were apprehended last night around 7.30 pm from Taret Khun village under Lamlai police station of Imphal east district.
Troops of 36 Assam Rifles nabbed the KRF cadre indentified as Hentensei Chongloi alias Anand Chongloi (36) son of Thongkholam Chongloi of Thongkhomphai of Saikhul in Senapati district and was handed over to Kangpokpi police station.
He was apprehended yesterday evening, at about 6 pm along with a demand letter of KRF and a mobile handset from his possession, police said.
