Imphal, May 31 2014 :
The BJP Manipur Pradesh has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate an inquiry into the incident of power cut in Manipur that occurred during his grand swearing-in ceremony on May 26 last.
The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party is still adamant that the total blackout which happened in the State during Modi's inauguration was purely an 'intentional act' of Manipur Government and it must be probed in order to find out the facts.
Addressing a press conference at the party office here on Saturday, Manipur BJP president Th Chaoba informed the media that the issue over the power cut has been raised before Narendra Modi in writing and the party has demanded an inquiry into the incident.
Chaoba said the act committed by the State Government is not a trivial matter, so the party does not take it lightly, and added the PM has been urged to take action against the Government over the incident.
Copies of the complaint report seeking action against Manipur Government have also been given to the Governor, Power Minister (independent charge) Piyush Goyal and DoNER Minister VK Singh, the former MP informed.
Chaoba, who was recently in New Delhi to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Modi, reportedly called on several Union Ministers during his visit.
The State BJP leader said he met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed the law and order situation in Manipur.
He also called on Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari and urged him to take necessary steps to repair the Imphal-Jiribam stretch of the National Highway-37 .
While meeting DoNER Minister VK Singh, he raised the border issue of the State besides calling for more development in the field of games and sports, Chaoba informed the media.
On the current issue of leadership crisis in the State BJP, the BJP state President tried to clear the air and said there is no crisis within the organization of Manipur BJP party.
Saying that differences among leaders of the party are not new things as BJP is a big party, Chaoba further clarified that distribution of party tickets to the candidates for the recent Lok Sabha polls was done by the National Parliamentary Board, and that it was not his responsibility.
