The increasing rate of heart diseases in Manipur and other northeastern states is linked to the urbanized lifestyle adopted by most people, Executive Director of Fortis Hospital, New Delhi Padmashree Dr Upendra Kaul has said during an interaction programme held at Iboyaima Hospital and Research Institute here today.
The interaction programme was held at the end of a two-day free heart camp organized by Fortis Hospital in collaboration with Iboyaima Hospital, wherein 150 people availed free medical facilities including ECG, Eco test, Pulmonology function test, etc.
The prevalence rate of heart disease among the South Asians has been increased by about 11 percent during the last 10 years.
