UGs arrested; banned forest products seized

Based on specific intelligence regarding movement of a UG cadre, troops of 9 AR of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) launched an operation in general area Pangal Basti of Chandel district and apprehended a PLA cadre yesterday.
A statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) identified the apprehended cadre as No 2487 L/Cpl Sagolsem Kyau Se Uo alias Pupu, (22) S/o Sagolsem Chingtum Meitei, of Namphalan Seniya Kwe, PO/PS- Namphalong, Tamu Township, Sagaing Division, Myanmar.
A .32 Revolver with three live rounds and a Chinese Hand Grenade were recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee alongwith the recovered items were handed over to Imphal West Police Station.
In another operation, troops of 12 Bihar of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in general area Patsoi of Imphal West district and apprehended a NNC cadre yesterday.
The apprehendee was identified as No 307 (Batch No 02, 2006) SS Sgt Acham Kamei alias Aghuangthai Kamei (20) S/o Thwankam Kamei of Oktan/Puichi, Tamenlong.
The apprehendee was handed over to Patsoi Police Station, it added.
At the same time, a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and troops of B-Coy, 40 AR arrested a Self-styled Major of UNLF namely Samandram Jagat alias Thambaljao Singh (35) S/o Bihari of Thoubal Haokha Maning Leikai from Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai today, claimed a statement issued by the PRO of Police dept.
A case has been registered at Singjamei PS and investigation is on.
Meanwhile, based on specific intelligence regarding ferrying of illegal Forest product on NH 102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Tengnoupal and apprehended four individuals alongwith banned forest products on May 30, the PRO statement said.
The suspicious vehicle, a white colored Bus Registration Number MN 01 1704 traveling from Imphal to Moreh was stopped for checking, resulting in apprehension of four individuals.
The apprehendees were identified as Gouthang Gangte (29) S/o Songkhogin Gangte of Tengnoupal sub Division, PO & PS -Moreh, Mangkhonen Singson (28) S/o L Haokhotinten Singson, of New Moreh, Shaikholen Toutheng (24) S/o Late Thongngam of Teijang, PO & PS - Chakpikasong, and Thangpao (20) S/o Danmsei of Phoanchong, PO & PS - Moreh, Chandel.
Approximately 216 kgs of Gingseng was recovered from them.
The apprehendees alongwith the recovered item were handed over to Forest and Wildlife Department, Imphal.
In another incident, based on specific intelligence regarding smuggling of banned forest items near border area, troops of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in general area Haolenphai of Chandel district and recovered approximately 700 kgs of Red Sander wood on May 30.The approximate cost of these logs is Rs 25 lakh.
The recovered illegal sander wood has been handed over to Forest Department, Imphal West, the PRO added.
