Myanmar nationals held

Imphal, May 17 2013 :
Twenty Myanmarese nationals including two women, who were caught by Manipur Police for violating the immigration laws of the country, were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thoubal district of Manipur on Friday.
The foreigners or the illegal immigrants who were arrested by the police as they did not hold any legal documents could face five years prison term with fines under Section14 Foreigners Act, 1946 if they fail to produce their proper IDs.
And, if they can produce proper documents, they will be handed over to the state CID Crime Branch for deportation.
Hearing for the case will begin May 2.The Myanmarese nationals have been lodged in Central Sajiwa Jail, Manipur since their arrest on August 30 last year.
A combined team of Thoubal, Imphal West, Bishnupur districts police under the supervision of Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Manipur pulled up the Myanmarese nationals during an operation conducted between Lilong bazaar and Ushoipokpi bazaar in Thoubal district on August 30 .
