CM Ibobi to lead 40-member team to Myanmar

In a move to strengthen the relationship between Myanmar and Manipur and to work out on various related issues, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi is all set to lead a 40-member delegation team including his wife and son to Myanmar.
The visit of the delegation from Manipur to Myanmar would primarily focus on Tourism, Imphal-Mandalay Bus Service, supply of electricity to Myanmar by Manipur and trade relations, among others.
According to an official source, the team to be led by Chief Minister O Ibobi would also see the presence of his wife MLA O Landhoni and their son O Suraj Kumar.
Among the 12 Cabinet Ministers, five of them including the Chief Minister himself would be part of the team.
The other Cabinet Ministers are Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam; PHE Minister Irengbam Hemochandra; Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro and Works Minister Dr Khumujam Ratankumar.
Parliamentary Secretary in charge of Youth Affairs and Sports Mairenbam Prithviraj; Congress MLA T Manga Veiphei and DK Korungthang would also be in the team.
Among other top officials of the State Government in the team would include Director General of Police, Y Joykumar; Principal Secretary (Commerce and Industries) Oinam Nabakishore; Director of Commerce and Industries B John Tlangtinkhuma; Regional Manager (APEDA), Guwahati Bityart Kumar; OSD (EXIM), Directorate of Commerce and Industries Kshetrimayum Shantakumar, Chief Engineer (Power) Nandeibam Sarat; Director of School Education Hawaibam Deleep and Additional Chief Engineer (Works) Khuraijam Temba.
The delegation would also include an Economist, a resource person on Business Management and International and another resource person on Myanmar Studies, all from Manipur Univerity.
They are Dr Elangbam Bijoykumar, Dean of Social Sciences; Dr Chingakham Ibohal of MIMS and Nongthombam Jiten, Research Associate from Centre for Myanmar Studies, MU.
Mutuwa Bahadur will also take part in the visit as a resource person of artifacts and ancient studies.
The source further informed that Likmabam Manibabu, Programme Executive of DDK Imphal; Dr K Palin, Managing Director of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute; Prabhakar Kolli Reddy, Investor in Power, Mining and Minerals; Bhasker Rao Kavuru, Investor in Power, Mining and Minerals; Venkataraman Balaji, Investor in Power, Mining and Minerals; Suresh Sharma, Investor in Coal Mining and Thermal Power; Sanjoy Sharma, Investor in Coal Mining and Thermal Power and Vijay Vyas, Investor in Coal Mining and Thermal Power would also be part of the team as investors/traders.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Chief Minister O Ibobi and his wife MLA O Landhoni would be leaving Imphal for Myanmar in a flight to take part in a discussion session on Power, Tourism and Hospitality, HRD and IT which would be held on May 27 in Sagang Region, Myanmar.
The other members of the team including the Cabinet Ministers and Congress MLAs would go by road starting from May 26 to attend the same meet.
They would hold the night at Moreh and cross the border the following morning.
The Chief Minister and his 40-member delegation would also take part in the North East India-Myanmar Business Conclave which is to be held at Moniwar and Mandalay.
