While highlighting the condition of Imphal-Ukhrul road, Chairman of Bharat Sevak Samaj, Manipur State Branch, H Kangamba Singh has drawn the attention of state government and forest department for planting trees along the stretch of the road.
Trees growing along the 80km long stretch of Imphal-Ukhrul road are minimal and because of it there is the possible danger of road accidents, skidding and landslide.
On top of it, mass jhum cultivation has worsened the dilapidating forest areas, Kangamba pointed out in as statement.
Drawing the attention of the concerned department to plant saplings of big trees and all not to cut down the trees growing along the road, Kangamba further observed that degrading ecological balance can be saved if trees were planted on both the sides of the 50 ft width Imphal-Ukhrul road.
