Twin Pallel drug seizure cases: One given bail, others sent to further remand

Even as 12 police men held with illegal drugs worth Rs 3.50 crores have been sent to prison, Lalminsanga, one of the accused in the same drug smuggling case has been released on bail.
Meanwhile, seven other individuals including an army Colonel arrested with a huge consignment of drugs have ben remanded to judicial custody.
After 11 commando personnel including two officers were apprehended by Thoubal District Commandos at Pallel on April 28, another police officer was also arrested.
As disclosed by the officer arrested later, one Lalminsanga Mizo (30) alias Minsang of Moreh Ward No 6 was pulled up on May 9 .
Lalminsanga was produced at the Court of Special Court NDPS Manipur today.
Stating that Lalminsanga was involved in the abortive drug smuggling of April 28, the Public Prosecutor sought judicial custody of Lalminsang for 15 days.
This was objected by Lalminsang's counsel.
After hearing both sides, the Judge released Lalminsanga on bail on the ground that there was no prima facie evidence about his involvement in the abortive drug deal.
Lalminsanga was released on PR bond of Rs one lakh and surety bond of the same value furnished by two Government employees.
After 11 commando personnel led by SI Debson and Jemadar H Premananda were arrested, Moreh Commando Unit OC SI RK Binodjit was also apprehended.
All the 11 commando personnel were posted at Moreh.
Again acting on the disclosure of Binodjit, Lalminsanga was pulled up.
However, Md Ali and Md Azad Khan who were reportedly involved in the abortive drug deal could not be apprehended till date.
All the 12 commando personnel are being lodged in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, seven individuals including Army Col Ajay Choudhry and Indigo Airlines Assistant Manager Ng Brojen who were apprehended with drugs containing pseudoephedrine hydrochloride worth Rs 25 crores were produced before the same Special Court, NDPS Manipur.
The Judge remanded them to judicial custody for another 15 days.
It is reported that no charge-sheet has been filed till date with connection with the drug seizure.
The same Court has remanded Md Sahabuddin alias Abo (35) of Lilong Tairen Makhong to judicial custody for 15 days.
Md Sahabuddin alias Abo was arrested by a combined team of Thoubal commandos and Lilong Police from Lilong Bazar, Masjid Road along with 4320 numbers of SP capsules on May 11 .
