Imphal, June 16:
Against the work order pertaining to construction of a barrack type quarter for Khangkhui Khullen PHC, Ukhrul district with the estimated cost of Rs 47.96 lakhs under SPA, the same work was initiated in the last week of February this year without proper levelling of the ground and without consultation of the village headmen, informed the Khangkhui Khulen (Phungcham) Village Authority.
Moreover, the size of the construction was reduced to 95x30 ft as against the actual size of 106x44 ft specified in the work order.
Under the reduced size, there is no provision for kitchen, store room, toilet etc which were all incorporated in the relevant work order.
While the construction work is only in its initial stage done in total disregard to the specific instructions laid out in the relevant work order, a huge amount of the money sanctioned against the work order has already been withdrawn, disclosed the Village Authority while lamenting that the authority concerned has failed to take up any action despite repeated appeals and reminders.
Citing all such anomalies and manipulations, the Khangkhui Khulen Village Authority has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding construction of 106x44 ft barrack type quarter for the PHC at any cost as per the work order.
It also demanded stringent action against Government officials involved in swindling public money and development funds.
The memorandum also appealed to the Chief Minister to make a spot verification of the construction of the Kangkhui Khulen PHC.
In case of failure to take up necessary action by the Govt by June 30, the villagers and public will be compelled to launch any kind of agitation, it cautioned.
