Imphal, November 28:
Even as condemnations continue to pour in against the killing of four members of a family at Tamenglong allegedly by Assam Rifles, a school teacher was thrashed black and blue by AR personnel at Sagang in Bishnupur.
The victim, Md Abdulla Khan (38) of Sagang bazar under Kumbi PS narrated his nightmarish experience at the hands of the Assam Rifles at the head office of Manipuri Students Federation today.
Narrating his story, the school teacher said that one November 13 at about 9.30 pm, he heard people calling from outside to open his door.
“When I opened the door, one AR personnel kicked me on the chest without spelling out any reason and on seeing this, my wife fainted,” recalled Abdulla who is an approved teacher at the Pinjabati aided High School at Wangoo Sandangkhong.
“Before long another 6/7 AR personnel rushed inside my house and started ransacking the room.
The bags containing sugar and urea meant for my grocery shop were also smashed besides seizing one cordless handset, antenna and a sum of Rs 50,000,”said the school teacher.
Abdulla said that he was then taken to the AR camp at Sagang where he was accused of collecting money for underground outfits.
The personnel asked him to disclose the names of some cadres, but since he was innocent, he could not tell them anything, said the school teacher.
“After some time they let me off but not before beating me ruthlessly,” said Abdulla.
The amount of Rs 50,000 which was earlier taken was handed back to him.
The trauma of the school teacher did not stop at that for again on November 22, while he was returning from school, AR men led by a Major barged into his house and began to dig up the kitchen charging that he had hidden a 9 mm pistol there but nothing was found.
“I was then blind folded and taken to their camp again.
My hands were tied and they began kicking and thrashing me with a stick at the back of my thighs and asked to name some underground cadres who had come to my house,” said the school teacher and added, “Since I was innocent I could not divulge any name”.
Later the blind fold was removed, said Abdulla adding that he was allowed to go home at about 9 pm the same day.
“Before I was set free I was threatened that I would be killed if any complaint is lodged,” said Abdulla.
Seeing his condition, the school teacher was taken to RIMS by family members.
After the teacher had recounted his ordeal, MSF president S Sanjoy said that the story of Abdulla is a clear case of excesses committed by security personnel.
The student leader recounted the numerous mass massacres perpetrated by the security personnel in the name of CI Ops and demanded the removal of Central forces from the State.
Fitting action should also be taken up against the AR personnel, he demanded.
