Demanding reapproval of Thadou-Kuki dialect as one of the MIL subjects, Tribal Students� Union today staged a sit-in-protest demonstration in front of the Johnstone Higher Secondary School from 10 am to 3.30 pm.
Talking to mediapersons, Tribal Students� Union president Apum said that in 2003 the State Government had approved teaching of Thadou-Kuki dialect as one of the MIL subjects at Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
But the school authorities has been denying the facility on the pretext that the there is no teacher who could teach the subject.
The protest demonstration was held demanding re-approval of the dialect as one of the MIL subjects in the school once again, he said.
While the students were demonstrating, the Director of Education (S) had reportedly come to meet the agitating students.
Later some of the representatives of the Union had also gone to hold discussion on the issue with the Director.
