"We hate gun culture" said womenfolk of Chingmeirong of Imphal west district who staged a sit-in demonstration in protest against gun attack at the residence of an official of the Manipur Health Service hailing from the locality on Friday.
Miscreants suspected to be underground activists fired at least two rounds at the residence of health educator of state medical department, Yengkhom Chandrakumar last night at about 7 pm.
No one sustained injuries in the gun firing but it caused panic to the residents of the area, lamented womenfolk taking part in the protest staged at Chingmeirong today.
They said that they are staging protest here not for the particular instant of attacking to house of Chandrakumar but frequent incident of such kinds occurring in the state almost every day.
"We don't want violence of any kinds, we hate gun culture, stop threatening with gun and bomb to the general public, stop collecting money for the people in the name of waging war for sovereignty, the leader of the womenfolk cried.
She also demanded that underground outfits if any of them was behind the attack should clarified on the reason behind causing panic to the individual as well as to the general public.
To mark protest against the act of the miscreants, shops, business establishments including petrol refilling stations in the area remained shut down.
