Cyclone VCC clinches champion's title

Imphal, January 09 2009:
AS THE 6th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2008-09 organised by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Association (MVCA) at Oriental College and Model Higher Secondary playground concluded today, Cyclone VCC clinched the champion's title.
The final match of the tournament was played between Wextern Cricket Association (WCA) and Cyclone VCC.
President Manipur Olympic Association (MOA), MLA Bijoy Koijam and Patron MVCA, Secretary, Adult Education, Government of Manipur KK Chhetry (IAS) graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
MLA S Kunjakeshwor (Keba) presided over the function.
In the final match, WCA won toss and elected to bat first.
WCA scored 156 runs from 30 overs by losing seven wickets, in the first innings.
In the second innings, Cyclone VCC scored 157 runs from 29.4 overs by losing six wickets and won the match by four wickets.
The winner's trophy included a cash prize of Rs 5000 which is donated by E Bharot, Singjamei Chingamakha Liwa Lambi in the memory of her late mother Elangbam Keinahal.
The runners up's trophy also included a cash prize of Rs 3000 which is donated by Dr A Herojit, Top Mayai Leikai in the memory of his late fateher Athokpam Ibochouba.
All individual prizes are donated by T Subol of Tera Tongbram Leikai in the memory of his late mother Tongbram Ongbi Ahanbi.
Mujibur Rahman of WCA was awarded the titles of best batsman and man of the series.
He scored 439 runs and five wickets in six matches.
A Bisheshor was awarded best bowler with 11 wickets in his credit.Th Akshay Kumar of Cyclone VCC was awarded man of the final match title.
