In a devastating fire burnt incident occurred last night at Hamleikhong some one and half kilometer away from Ukhrul police station, property worth around Rs 18 lakhs belonging to the Buffalo Society office, official report here said today.
The fire burnt incident occurred at around 7.45 pm last night and police expressed suspicion of some anti-social elements behind the catching of fire in the office.
However, police could not immediately confirm the miscreants behind it but suspected monetary demand by an underground outfit behind the arson.
The burnt structure belongs to an MCS officer named Ningam Chamray now bearing the charge of the chief executive officer, CEO of the Ukhrul District Council and run as office of the Buffalo Society, an NGO on rent.
While the fire burnt incident occurred, no one of the office as well as that of MCs officer was there.
The house of the Nigam did not caused much damage in the firing but most of the belongings including computer sets and other furnitures of the NGO office have been turn into residue, reports said.
