THREE SURRENDERED militants protesting against the government eviction and demolition move detained by the police were released later this evening, said families today.
The surrendered militants are protesting demanding their shelter after they are evicted by the police from their sheltering place at Commando Complex, Ragailong.
They are also demanding clearance of relief which government payable to them under the government policy for the surrendered rehabilitation package.
The three surrendered former militants detained by the police were Haobijam Mandan (35) son of late Ibochouba, Khoishnam Jiban (32) son of Raghu and Ningombam Ibomcha (32) son of Mangi.
According to the families, they were picked up by the police stating that they would be kept at the Lamphel rehabilitation centre last night at around 8 pm and came to know that they were in the police custody when families went to call on them today morning.
Later, family members went to SP, Imphal west to know the whereabouts of them but found in the custody of the Imphal police station where they were released in the presence of the family members.
