After losing its first quarterfinal match against host Manipur, Karnataka's hope for entering semi-final have been dashed after Jharkhand crushed them in the second league match of quarterfinal today.
While Goa who splitted points in their first quarterfinal league match with Bihar bettered after 1-0 win against Punjab today.
In a crucial quarterfinal match, Jharkhand drubbed Karnataka 3-0 dashing the Karnataka's hope for entering semi-final.
Hosts Manipur blanked Karnataka in the quarterfinal opener on Saturday by an identical goal margin.
Each team in the quarterfinal round would play two matches.
The match between Jharkhand and Karnataka was a lop-sided affair.
Jharkhand opened their account in 23rd minute when Jasinta netted the ball deflected from Karnataka goalie Geetha S.Only two minutes later, Prabha Kumari netted another goal after the ball was deflected Karnataka's goalpost.
The deflected ball was shot by Sabita Namito which was also deflected from Karnataka's defender Nadina Nancy.
Though Karnataka tried to find reducer they have a tough time to defend the Jharkhand attacks.
In 34th minute, Mejhren Kindu received a pass from Munita Kachhap and scored the third goal.
Karnataka's Thilagavathi T committed a fault in their penalty area to Jharkhand's Gori in 56th minute prompting referee to award penalty kick in favour of Jharkhand.
Thanks to Karnataka goalie Geetha S, she saved the penalty shot by Jasinta Toppo.
Karnataka was in a very disappointing position till the end of the match as they could not manage whether they should defend the Jharkhand attacks or penetrate in the rival's territory for reducer.
In the other match, Goa defeated Punjab by a solitary goal (1-0).The lone goal was scored as early as in 2nd minute when Blanka Barretto netted a ball deflected from Punjab goalie Mandeep Kaur.
The ball was deflected as the shot made by Goa mid-fielder Flavia Cardozo from the right flank was too hard to collect by the goalie.
Punjab eves tried several attempts to find equaliser but bear no fruit till the end of the match.
Goa strikers on the other hand were very aggressive to increase the margin.
Their aggressiveness to posses the ball prompted referee to flash yellow card to Lydia Vates in 21st minute and Sharon Fernandes in 35th minute.
With today's win, Goa bettered their position in the quarter final stage.
Goa and Bihar splitted their points following a goalless draw on Saturday.
