Imphal, March 29:
The Civil Judge, Junior Division, Imphal East has issued an order prohibiting further continuance of the ongoing 1st Kh Chandra Singh Memorial Football Tournament organised by the North Eastern Veteran Football Association at NESO ground until further orders.
The notice was issued after the All Thangmeiband Veteran Football Association filed a petition against the stand of the organiser to bar one its players on ground that he as not achieved the stipulated age.
Case records said that one Devananda Singh Moirangthem of the Thangmeiband team was not allowed to play on March 13 against SSUV as his age certificates could not be produced.
However on March 21, the Thangmeiband team played against REVFA after Devananda submitted the birth certificate and other certificates supported by his educational qualifications.
Then on March 22, the respondents, the North Eastern Veteran Football Association wrote to the Thangmeiband team that a complaint has been filed against M Devananda and asked him to appear before the organising committee of the tournament on March 23 at 10 am and to submit all original documents.
The Thangmeiband team and M Devananda then submitted a photostat attested copy of the Class XII examination to the committee.
The petitioner, that is the Thangmeiband team also expressed apprehension that unless the defendants are restrained there could be violence.
After hearing both sides, the Judge ruled that the Thangmeiband team participated in the tournament according to the invitation of the respondents by paying the required fees.
The Judge also ruled that there is nothing to suggest that there is anything wrong with the age of Devananda and ruled that the tournament be put on hold until further orders.
