A family feud turned ugly when one of the disputing parties resorted to firing from a licensed arm resulting in three persons sustaining injuries of varying degree.
The gun wielder was also beaten up black and blue.
The incident which took place at Keishampat Mutum Leikai at around 10.50 pm yesterday reportedly began when a nephew confronted his uncle both in inebriated state.
While two out of three suffered bullet injuries, the arms wielder Hanglem megha (54) has also been hospitalised after local residents overpowered and thrashed him.
Megha is said to a special contractor.
according to local sources, the violent incident unfolded when megha was making a hue and cry atop his balcony last night with the situation taking a serious turn when the nephew H Satyam (32) engaged his uncle in a verbal duel and started to rain stones that smashed one of Megha's window shield.
Moments later Megha reportedly descended from his staircase firing several shots in the air as well as towards some family members/relatives who had gathered at the family courtyard.
In firing Megha's elder brother Prafullo (60) got hit in the abdomen area while his (Prafullo) two sons Satyam and Bubu (30) were respectively injured in the buttock and thigh.
Upon hearing the commotion, locals rushed to the scene and on seeing Megha holding the arm started to rain blows at him as some others snatched the weapon, the source recalled.
The arms seized from Magha is said to be of a 9 mm calibre pistol but no ammunition were left in the magazine by the time locals took custody of the of the gun.
Police later took custody of the seized arm.
While Megha has been admitted at Shija hospital, Prafullo, Satyam and Bubu were treated at RIMS Hospital from where the two sons have been discharged after a short while.
Condition of Prafullo is stated to be serious.
Meanwhile, a meeting attended by representative of local youth and women organisations of Keishampat Mutum Leikai unanimously resolved to expelled H Megha and his immediate family from the locality for an indefinite period with immediate effect, informed Mutum Leikai Youth Development Club in a press release.
