Imphal, March 29:
Making its stand clear, the Students' Federation of India, Manipur State Chapter today said that though it fully supports the genuine demands of the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur, it is against the imposition of the indefinite economic blockade on the two National Highways.
In a statement, SFI admitted that the Government wakes up only after some drastic actions are taken up and added that the Government is responsible for the pathetic state of education in the State.
However SFI is against holding the people of the State to ransom by enforcing economic blockades.
Stating that the rot in the education system has taken firm roots down the years, SFI maintained that the need of the hour is a "radical surgery in the education system and not homeopathic pills." Appealing to ATSUM to reconsider its stand and withdraw the economic blockade, SFI said that it will extend its solidarity to all democratic movement and added that such a movement should not strangulate the common man.
Economic blockade only profits the black marketeers and businessmen who thrive at the cost of the common people, it added.
