Governor of Manipur Dr SS Sidhu and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have conveyed their greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba, Meetei Cheiraoba or the New Year which is being celebrated tomorrow.
In his address, Dr Sidhu said that with the advent of another New Year, "we have to remember that we should not allow ourselves to get bogged in the issues and debates of the past.
"We should, instead, march forward, correcting the mistakes of the past and keeping our focus on where we want Manipur to be in future.
"We have to resolve to fight and defeat the evil designs of divisive and disruptive forces and consolidate the forces of solidarity and harmony, Dr Sidhu exhorted, while hoping that the Meetei New Year would usher in a new era of peace, progress and prosperity for Manipur and its people.
In his message, Chief Minister O Ibobi while extending his heartiest greeting to the people, said Cheiraoba gives us an opportunity to set aside our differences, come together and work unitedly for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur.
President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Gaikhangam has also greeted the people of Manipur as well as Manipuris living outside the State on the occasion of Meetei Cheiraoba (Sajibu Nongma Panba).
