Imphal, March 29:
A 35 year old man, Akham Satischandra of Khurai Lairikyengbam Mayai Leikai was caught red-handed while trying to extort from an educational institution posing as an RPF activist today.
Satischandra, nabbed by AMSU volunteers from near Kingsway English School, Sanjenthong at around 1.30 pm was paraded before news persons where he confessed to committing some other criminal activities.
The 35 year old, who said he lost his job as a Section Officer in the PDA in the Government's downsizing policy, is also said to be a heroin pusher.
He disclosed of masquerading as an RPF member working in the outfit's Div IV while serving and collecting extortion amount.
In addition to trying to take Rs 200 from the said school, Satischandra, who began his extortion operation since Feb this year has so far succeeded in collecting money in the range of Rs 100 to 1900 from various catholic educational institutions, schools and commercial establishments.
