Employees of three Departments have submitted written applications to the House Committee of the Assembly, which is probing into the GPF misappropriation scam, requesting the Committee to check their GPF amount.
The House Committee headed by MLA Dr M Nara was set up during the last session of the 12th State Assembly in December, 2005 after the cases of misappropriation of GPF was brought to the notice of the House.
According to a notification subsequently issued by Joint Secretary of the Assembly T Joute, any employees who suspect that their GPF have been withdrawn on the sly may lodge complaints to the House Committee within Jan 31.Acting on the notification, ten employees working in three departments, namely Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Khadi and Village Industries Board and Education Dept submitted applications to the House Committee requesting to check their GPF amount.
The total GPF amount of the ten employees is estimated to be around Rs 6 lakhs.
All the complaints would be brought up for discussion during the first meeting of the House Committee which is slated to be held on February 8.If it is essential, the officials concerned would also be called for explanation.
Meanwhile, according to press source, since the matter has been taken up by the House Committee, some of the persons who were involved in the scam, have started negotiating with the employees whose GPF they have swindled fearing the consequences.
They have even started refunding the amount after a mutual agreement with the victimised employees.
In such a situation, the number of complaints lodged would also definitely come down.
