Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a reliable source said that the two officers called up the Chief Secretary today and expressed deep concern over the incidents and questioned the character of the State Government letting for such ugly incidents to take place.
The source said that the Centre has taken a serious view of the elected representatives of the people assaulting Government employees and expressed their anger and concern over the unsavoury incidents.
Seeking a detailed report, the Centre has asked the Chief Secretary to study whether the security cover provided to the three MLAs should be withdrawn as the security cover might have given them the impression that they can throw their weights around.
Following the two calls to the Chief Secretary, the officer has today written to the State DGP AK Parashar to submit a detailed report on the incidents by February 9, said the source.
A final decision on whether the security cover provided to the three MLAs should be withdrawn or not will be taken on the basis of the report submitted by the police, added the source.
Ukhrul DC Mohanlal Meena was reportedly assaulted by MLA A Aza's men over the award of a scheme under the Border Area Development Programme while another employee of the DC office of Ukhrul was assaulted by the men of MLAs Danny Shaiza and W Keishing over the same scheme.
