The proscribed UNLF has penalised a 35-year old man who was not only trying to take loan from the bank and reconnecting telephone line by misusing the name of the outfit, but was also in the habit of sending obscene messages to young girls to lure them through mobile phone, with a bullet on his leg.
Talking to media-persons somewhere in Bishnupur district on March 14, the spokespersons of UNLF identified the fraud as Salam Ibohalbi alias Ramesh of Wangkhei Angom Leikai, but presently residing at Samurou Awang Leikai.
Ramesh's father, identified as Salam Manaobi is said to be the Joint Director of Fisheries Department.
The spokesman said during the course of investigating in the case of misusing the name of the outfit, UNLF cadres found a packet of condoms from his person and that was how his immoral activities came to light.
Ramesh had confessed that he had physical relationship not only with innocent girls but also with paid sex workers even while he was doing his MA at Delhi University.
He also spend night with prostitutes at various hotels located at Imphal like Hotel Embassy at Paona Bazar, Hotel Mohari behind Polo ground as well as the houses of his friends, the spokespersons said, while taking serious view of lack of morality among the people specially the youngsters.
The spokesman further informed that out of the eight loan applicants recommended by Ramesh to SBI, the names four persons have been cleared though the loan amount had not been taken.
They Salam Ibohalbi alias Ramesh (he himself-Rs 15 lakhs), Maibam Ibomcha of Laipham Khunou (Rs 8.25 lakhs), Maibam Romita Devi of Laipham Khunou (Rs 15 lakhs) and Soibam Mala Devi of Thoubal Mela ground (Rs 5 lakhs).
Ramesh was also trying to reconnect the telephone line of his family which had been snapped as an outstanding pending bill amounting to Rs 32,500 had not been paid by misusing the name of the outfit, the spokesperson informed.
For all his misconduct, Ramesh would be shot on his leg.
