Chief Minister, O Ibobi will launch "Zero Garbage Campaign" tomorrow aimed at keeping Imphal city neat and clean.
On the eve of launching the campaign, Planning and Development Authority (PDA) today handed over 30 dumper placer containers to the Imphal Municipal Council.
The PDA had taken the decision to launch the campaign as a "Brainstorming Session" mode so as to free Imphal city from all waste products and keep it neat and clean.
This was started in a meeting of the authority convened by the chairman of the board, MLA Dr Kh Loken on July 17 last.
The "Zero Garbage Campaign" which would be launched tomorrow by the state Chief Minister will last till October 11 of this year.
The campaign will cover all the 27 wards of the Imphal Municipal Council (IMC).
NGOs, local clubs and other social organisations will also take part in the campaign.
The director of Manipur Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) will be the overall in-charge of the campaign which would be taken up in association with the IMC authority.
The first three best performance clubs or NGOs will be awarded Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 while consolation prices of Rs 5000 will be awarded to other clubs and NGOs participating in the campaign.
Separate cash award will also be given to three wards of the IMC for best performances.
The best ward performance award carry an amount of Rs.50,000 with Rs 30, 000 to second best performer and Rs 20,000 to the third.
