Imphal, August 11 2010:
Six activists of Military Defence Force (MDF), earlier known as KYKL (MDF), have been arrested by Manipur Police commandos and Army from Thoubal district in Manipur and New Delhi, the capital city of India.
Jogeshchandra Haobijam, Addl SP (Ops) Thoubal district police informed through a press release that a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and 16 Maratha Light Infantry (Red Shield Division) conducted search operations at Tangjeng and surrounding areas today.
During the operations, two suspected youths were detained for verification around 5 am.
On verification, they were identified as Laishram Kingson Meitei @ Bomcha (19), son of L Kulla Meitei of Sagolmang bazar and Sorokhaibam Prem (20), son of S Medhajit of Sagolmang bazar.
On being searched, one 9mm pistol made in USA, one 9mm magazine and two live rounds of 9mm pistol were recovered from the possession of L Kingson Meitei.
One hand grenade was reportedly recovered from S Prem, the press release stated.
The operation was based on the report from Special Cell, Delhi Police, New Delhi, after the arrest of four cadres of MDF by a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos, 16 MLI under Red Shield Division and Special Cell, Delhi Police at about 1 am in the midnight last night.
The four were arrested from Sukhchain Singh Mehta Chawk, Shivaji Enclave near CNG Petrol Pump, West Delhi.
The four MDF activists arrested in Delhi have been identified as S/S Project Officer, Longjam Momocha @ Deepak @ Langonba (24) of Uyumpok Terapur, (ex-PREPAK) Sagolsem Somananda @ Mahesh (28) of Langathel Keithel Macha, S/S 2nd Lt, Maibam Radheshyam @ Foreign @ Boris @ Dekora (26) of Uyumpok Litan Makhong and S/S Deputy Project Officer, Sapam Shayamananda @ Piktru (28), of Nambol Phoijing Awang Leikai.
Two laptops, mobile phones (number not given), 20 demand letters of MDF and ATM cards were recovered from the four arrested cadres, the press release of Addl SP informed.
