Imphal, January 24: The names of the State Police officers for the 2004 President's Medal award are likely to be announced tomorrow for its distribution on Republic Day, informed a highly placed source.

The source however said that distribution of the President's Medal for the officers whose names were earlier announced will not be distributed on Republic Day and is likely to be conferred on Independence Day.

Sources also informed that more than forty contingents including band parties will be participating in the upcoming Republic day celebration with II Manipur Rifles CO Sanasam Lairenjao as the Parade Commander.

The main function of the Republic day celebration will begin at Kangla at 8 am where Governor Dr SS Sidhu will be given a guard of honour by the III IRB personnel led by Akoijam Jhaljit (MPS).

The Governor will also be receiving march past salute from the personnel of BSF, CRPF, IRB, Civil police, Home Guard, NCC, Manipur Jail, Cultural Troupe, voluntary organisation and school students.

The march past will begin from 1st Manipur Rifles ground and pass infront of the Secretariat office before entering the Kangla Fort from its southern gate.

After presenting the march past salute to the Governor the contingent will move out of Kangla from the northern gate and snaked its way through the Khuyathong crossing, Kanglapat road, jail road before converging at the 1st Manipur Rifles ground where Chief Minister O Ibobi will address the contingent.
