Bodies demand release of picked up brothers

Imphal, January 24: The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has demanded immediate release of two brothers, Romi and Boicha, who have been allegedly arrested by personnel of 19 Assam Rifles from Sagolmang area on January 20.The Lup also extended its support to any agitation taken up by Joint People's Committee, Sagolmang in this connection.

Meanwhile, Heikakmapal Awang Leikai Nupi Chaokhat Lup has condemned prolonged detention of the two brothers by the Assam Rifles and said it is a direct affront to the ongoing agitation of the people for removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur.

Such attitude of the security personnel is deplorable and should be condemmned by one and all, the Lup said in a statement.
